Foundry Vineyards

In 1998, Mark and Patty Anderson began planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes on 3.5 acres behind their home. Initially, most of the grapes were sourced out to other Walla Walla wineries, but in 2003 they decided to hold back some of the fruit to create a small amount of wine that would commemorate the work of their clients at the Walla Walla Foundry. The inaugural vintage, a blend of Cabernet and Merlot grapes from their Stone marker Vineyard, featured label artwork by renowned artist Jim Dine.

In the years that have followed, Mark and Patty have increased the number of bottles they produce, but intend to keep their focus on small lot production. Mark, who holds a degree in studio art from Whitman College, found the winemaking process similar to the process of making art. FV is strengthening the relationship between art and wine by combining inspired winemaking with a complimentary visual aesthetic.
