Terre a Terre
“Named after a French expression meaning ‘Down to Earth’, Terre à Terre is a family-owned, boutique winery based in the Piccadilly Valley (Adelaide Hills) in South Australia. Sourcing fruit exclusively from their own vineyards in Piccadilly Valley and Wrattonbully, their wines reflect a more traditional, European style of winemaking with a focus on texture and structure, while still preserving the great fruit characters and drinkability hallmarks of Australian wine.
Husband and wife duo Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser carry with them a lifetime’s experience in both the Australian and French wine industries, with Xavier hailing from Champagne, and Lucy the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. Having met and married in France in 2003, in 2004 they purchased and planted their first vineyard, the Crayères Vineyard in Wrattonbully, so named for the network of limestone that run beneath the vines. Since their first release in 2008, a Sauvignon Blanc, they have grown and made critically acclaimed wines under the Terre à Terre label. Terre à Terre wines now come from vineyards situated in two of the coolest regions in South Australia: 3 vineyards totalling just over 10 hectares in the Piccadilly Valley in the Adelaide Hills, and the 8-hectare Crayères Vineyard in Wrattonbully in the heart of the Limestone Coast.
