Quinta de Chocapalha

The vineyards of Quinta de Chocapalha are situated in the sunny hills of the Lisbon Demarcated Region, located in Alenquer, 45 km northeast of Lisbon. They have been referred to since the XVI century for its excellent vineyards and wines. Situated in the outskirts of Aldeia Galega, this Estate belonged to Constantino O’Neil since the beginning of the XIX century, and was later donated to Diogo Duff, a Scottish aristocrat ennobled by the King D. João VI with the Tower and Sword Distinction. The property remained in the Family Duff until the 1980s, when at that time it was acquired by Alice and Paulo Tavares da Silva. Since then important improvements have taken place in the 45 ha of vineyards and new cultivation techniques introduced in the Quinta de Chocapalha, continuing the tradition of this vine growing farm, always looking for better quality in its wines. Only in the vintage of 2000, when the vineyards reached maturation and desired quality, was it decided to bottle the best of the wines produced.
